Otsego County Moving Assistance Program
The Otsego County Moving Assistance Program pays the security deposit and part of the first month’s rent on behalf of eligible families moving into new rental homes in Otsego County. Families can apply for assistance before they have found their new home, allowing them to shop with confidence, knowing they’ll have help affording the security deposit.
This program is funded by New York State Homes and Community Renewal’s New York State HOME Program.

Who is Moving Assistance For?
The Moving Assistance Program assists low-income families with the security deposit and part of the first month’s rent when a family moves into a rental home anywhere in Otsego County.
You do not have to currently live in Otsego County to be eligible. However, you do need to move into a unit in Otsego County for us to be able to assist you. If you end up finding a new home in Delhi, for example, we will be unable to help.
To be eligible for assistance, families must have a gross annual household income below 60% of the area median income for Otsego County for their family size. For this program, “household” includes everyone who will live in the home, except for certain special cases, like live-in aides.
The rental unit must also be approved by ORHA. To approve a unit, ORHA will decide if the rent is reasonable and will inspect the unit, based on HUD’s NSPIRE Standards. (Landlords will have the opportunity to try to address any issues keeping ORHA from approving the unit.)

How Do I Apply?
The first step in the application process is to submit a waiting list application. While we hope to keep the wait short, we’re not necessarily able to work with every family immediately.
Please be sure that you answer all questions on the application. If your application is missing important information, it may be considered incomplete and returned to you.
