Celebrate with ORHA
ORHA turned 40 this year! We’re celebrating with a picnic in Oneonta’s Neahwa Park on October 18, 2024. You’re invited to drop in any time between 11:30 am and 5:30 pm to meet our staff, learn about the organization, and enjoy a free meal.
When: Friday, October 18, 2024
Where: Large Pavilion – Neahwa Park, Oneonta
Time: 11:30 am – 5:30 pm (Drop in any time!)
We will be serving free hot dogs (or veggie dogs), chips, and soft drinks as long as supplies last. We’ll also have other fun goodies for you to take home! And, of course, staff and board members will be on hand to share information about our programs or just to chat and catch up.
Everyone is welcome! Current/former clients, folks who might need help, local contractors, service providers, municipal officials, or just plain curious people are all invited to celebrate with us and learn more about ORHA’s work.
40 Years of Service
In 40 years, we’ve accomplished a lot. Here are a few of the highlights we’ve found while looking back on our history:
- We’ve completed more than 1,400 home repair or rehabilitation projects.
- In 1984, our rental assistance program started out providing 35 families with help. In 1990, we served more than 100 for the first time – and we’ve served more than 100 families annually ever since!
- We provided home purchase assistance to more than 150 families.
- We supported the development of 2 affordable senior housing projects: Alden Park Apartments in Cherry Valley and Unadilla Neighborhood Apartments in Unadilla.
- We’ve administered more than $30 million in housing assistance since 1984. Those funds mostly came from state and federal grants, so while helping our clients, we brought that money back to Otsego County and injected it into our local economy.
