Affordable Senior Rental Housing

By means of a New York State Small Rental Development Initiative (SRDI) grant, ORHA has collaborated with the Cherry Valley Community Facilities Corporation to transform a wing of the former Cherry Valley school building at 2 Genesee Street into ten affordable apartments for low-income residents age 62 or above. 

There are six efficiency units (approximately 375-400 square feet each) and four one-bedrooms (approximately 575 square feet).  Rents range from $560 to $675, utilities included.  This is a non-smoking/no pet complex.

Income and other eligibility criteria apply. “Low income” is defined as 80% of the area median income (AMI) or less; some units are reserved for residents whose income is 50% AMI or less; some units are reserved for tenants whose income is between 50% and 60% AMI.

Leasing is expected to begin May 1, 2021.  See attached flyers and application for additional information.  Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, tours of the facility will not be available until February 15, 2021.

New York State fair housing regulations require that we disseminate information about the Alden Park units for at least sixty days before leasing can begin.   We can accept applications immediately but cannot consider them until after March 15, 2021, at which time review of applications will begin, in the order in which they were received.
